New Member Application for LSHAS (2017-2018) - (Download PDF)

LSHAS is a professional Society established to serve its membership of hearing aid dispensers licensed by the Louisiana Board of Hearing Aid Dealers, and for the purpose of promoting cooperation between all hearing aid specialists, especially those within the state of Louisiana.

The current membership elects its officers annually to serve in the year of election. The elected Officers represent the members before the State Board and lobby on a state and national level, monitoring all current and pending legislation regarding regulatory proposals affecting all licensed dispensers and upon behalf of all Society members.

The LSHAS Annual Convention and Continuing Education Program is held in January, providing opportunity for obtaining IIHIS approved CEUs to members and non-members alike. Featured speakers from Industry Manufacturers, Clinical Research and Development Organizations, as well as Instrument Applications Experts present valuable training on the latest innovations, standards of practice and patient care, and practical application of technological advancements. The Society Annual Banquet is also held at this time to provide the atmosphere for practitioner camaraderie and support for a unified membership mission.

As a tenured chapter of the International Hearing Society, LSHAS seeks to fulfill its obligation to uphold the highest standards of practice and ethics, in service to the growing Louisiana community of hearing impaired citizens. New membership of newly licensed dispensers, as well as licensed dispensers from transferring and bordering states are encouraged, as the ever increasing population of hearing impaired individuals grows exponentially.

Through the legislative efforts and support of the 2011 LSHAS Officers and members, Louisiana residents now benefit from the highest standards of consumer protection in regards to hearing aid purchases and qualified licensed practitioners. During the regular session of the Louisiana State Legislature, House Bill #276 proceeded unopposed, securing much needed amendments to previous state statutes. Special thanks goes to Cindy Bishop and Rep. Frank Montoucet for their efforts and support.
